ok, guys.
here’s the deal.
This is taking me forever because I haven’t really slept since sometime yesterday. I think.
Is it tuesday?
All I know is that it’s 5pm here and I want to go to bed, which isn’t really a good idea since then I’ll start into a really weird sleeping pattern and my life will be screwed up forever or at least until I figure out what time zone I’m in.
It’s also taking me forever because literally every single word I type has a typo in it and I have to backspace and fix each one at least once (you should see the email I just sent my parents, where I didn’t bother).
Today, the abbreviated version:
-arrive in Munich, Germany about 30 minutes early, at 7:00 am.
-spend 5 minutes in the passport line (yessssss).
-wait for everyone else to get here.
-take a bus into the city & our hostel to drop off our stuff.
-walk to Hofbrähaus (the brewery most associated with Oktoberfest, and basically the most famous pub in the world) for lunch, which, for me, was Weisswurst, or boiled white sausage made from veal and bacon bits (a bavarian specialty). These Germanic types aren’t really big on vegetables, apparently.
-return to the hostel, and check into our rooms (and shower).
-spend FOREVER connecting to the internet… the up side: it’s free.
Everything here is in German. The signs are in German, the radio, the menus, the chatter. I know. so weird, because I’m in Germany. Mostly it’s weird because I understand every 157th word I hear or so.
someone remind me why I decided to live in a country with a language that’s not even remotely related to any other foreign language I’ve studied. I can’t remember.
it was something about learning, I think.
maybe.
